Thanks for the fair writeup...I appreciate your honesty, and this feedback will join the piles of other feedback we have to determine the direction of future versions of Flock.

To answer some specific concerns...

-My World: This is only a first step on this feature (whereas most of our other features have had many rounds of revision and improvement). We definitely want to make this more usable and flexible as time goes on. As we start to plug in our 1.0 features, this will come together in a much more significant way.

-Web Clipboard: I've heard this from a few folks. I confess I still don't understand why changing this to a sidebar was so upsetting, but we do have it on our list as something that would be cool to reproduce as an extension.

-Flock.com: We've received a lot of feedback about our new website. We stepped in a new direction with this site and it is certainly not the final direction of flock.com. We have changes to make as Flock's featureset evolves, and with that will come some changes to make this site feel more like home. However, we feel that this site is a significant step towards a more educational homepage. The last flock.com, pretty design aside, did not do much to inform the user about Flock. The videos on the new flock.com have accomplished this in a much better way, and we have heard feedback saying such. There are always improvements to be done, but telling people about our browser is very high on that list.

Again, thanks for the feedback...it will be read by the team and add to our collective thoughts about the future of Flock.

Flock on,

Unified social network sounds like a cool idea, but I don't think it'll work. Social networks are cultures themselves, not utilities. Combining them is like merging China with United States ... makes no sense.

People go to different social networks to hang out with their respective friends. They go to MySpace to hang out with bands, go to Bebo for school friends, go to Friendster to talk to Southeast Asians ... You can simply combine them.

Instead of creating another community, what you can do is to create a simple aggregator that tracks your friends information, just like how you use readers to track RSS feeds. Check out http://www.spokeo.com Aggregators make sense because it's simple and does not have all the social features that you don't use most of the time. It's a fast and convenient way to glance through changes in your network.

@Mobius
Its always nice to see a windows fanboy desperately trying to justify their OS as being superior but please, keep it on a different website, this is about Safari (not your superiority complex).

I am indifferent to either Apple and Microsoft's font antialiasing because all it is is a way of making fonts look nice, nothing more.
Plus by having a resize in the bottom right of the window means that you dont need to have borders around the whole window (but as a windows fanboy, you would fear that because it is not how Microsoft does it).

Back to the article however,
Qeek, this is a very well written blog and I have to agree with all the points you raised. I have myself just downloaded Safari for OS X (and am using it to write this comment actually) and am so far finding it to be exactly the same as Safari 2 to be honest except with some added points such as resizable text boxes (as you pointed out in the article).

So far, i have found that the whole browser feels very fast and slick. Overall, I'm impressed.

One thing is nice touchscreen, but there are cell phones before that have this feature, so simply iPhone still sucks for me, just like this commercial ;).
